Can we have an icon to show if we've thanked a competition thread pls?

I was wondering if others think it is a good idea whether we could have a little icon(like the tick when we reply to a thread) which shows if we have thanked a thread.
Its just i and possibly others would find it easier and quicker to go through this competitions board if we could see from titles which ones we had done or not.
Anyone else think this is a good idea ? Also would this be possible to do?

Please, please don't write THANKS - or 'another one entered' etc as that is exactly what messes up the order the comps are posted in.

If everyone just uses the 'thanks button' then the comps stay in the order they were posted in (so long as there is not a query with the answer etc) and you can keep a note of the date it was posted so you know where you have entered up until.

It's a nice idea mandles - if the thanks button could trigger a tick or something along the lines of the replied tick thingy. But it may just be too awkward to do.

There have been many threads about Thanking and Bumping - they usually end up quite heated!! lol

I dont get how it messes them up though as only i can see my ticks and i think it should be the same with thanks (i dont think clicking thanks should bump up the thread either.)
Ive seen other competition sites do this and it makes it much easier. They have an "entered" button which you can click.

I second that. Please don't put things like thanks on a thread. It bumps the thread up again. The only way to check if you've entered a comp is to click on it. It's a pain I know but the only thing we have at the mo.

My only suggestion could be, that if you enter a comp, use the thread tools at the top of the page to email it to yourself and have a folder for it in your emails, then you can look to see what you have entered or if you recognise it as a repost or not

I know sorry :rotfl: ..obviously not as good as this sites competitions.
Well, its looking like even stevens on this subject. Im afraid its too much hassle to make a folder and im in a hurry to make my millions through competitions so need a quick visual sign to see what ive done or not. Well, looks like i will have to take my shrek ball and just keep scrolling through to see what ive done or not although i still think its a super idea!:D

Mandles, you can sort the board out using the thingy :rolleyes2 at the bottom by THREAD START TIME. Therefore you can log in, sort the board by TIME OF OP (THREAD START TIME) and enter the comps that have been posted since the last time / lot you entered? You have to remember what time on what day you have entered up to, that's all. If that's any help to you.

I can usually tell which threads/comps i have entered by the amount of views it has had.Obviously if it is showing as a new thread with no replies then i haven't entered it yet since the last time i was on but if someone has bumped a thread and it has say 3 replies but 200 views then more than likely i know i have entered that comp already.That's because i have to come on several times a day to keep up.

I too think it would be a good idea & could also work well with the freebies board but don't know like another poster said if it has a purpose across MSE in general. Everyone has there own way of doing things but a quick visual tick thingy at the side of each post would be a really good & quick way of checking if it's been entered by the thanks if that makes sense.

I always thank when I enter a competition. Therefore, I know if I have entered the comp or not. However, that is not the reason I thank. I thank because a poster is kind enough to share details of a competition with others and I think that is worth thanking. Some post so many comps, it must take ages - so I am also thanking for that posters time.
