Housing associations

Options
When I bid for a property it always says property closed but today it said 'Managers decision' after applying for these for a year almost I had my hopes up. Called them up to ask why and they said "Sorry it's been a mistake" now it's been listed another one week, with existing bids so it can go a lot higher. Any ideas what mistake could have been made? I recently added my girlfriend on as another tenant living there so I hoped I'd have a chance as it won't even let me bid for any one bed/one person houses now as I don't match that.

This particular house was listed with around 7/8 others and it was suppose to end today and out of the blue have decided let's add it for another week?

Feeling absolutely gutted today as I hoped I'd got something as council lists are even higher.

How long will it take to get a house with little priority?

Any reason you cannot get a private rental?
  • Funds I only work in retail part time contract. My girlfriend also works in retail less hours than me plus the job is further away so lots of travel costs. £13+ plus a day once she moves in. Been trying 2 and a half years to find myself a better job.

Can you ring them and ask Phil?
  • My other reasons for wanting council or housing association is so I can decorate to my own taste and have a secure tenancy without them selling up.

I did call them and they took a reference, checked up said sorry it's been a mistake and it's been kept on another week but your still on the bidding :o

Your low priority will not be helping.

Your only hope is to bid on properties that are in low demand areas.

I have been bidding on better properties. I mean some new builds with the housing association now have half the bidders they did last year.

It's 50-100 bidders for each with council but the odd one has maybe 10-25 bids but the bus routes are not very good.
  • I've been told if I take a private let they scrap your housing application you have to re-register and start at the very lowest priority.

if you think about it that is only fair. If you can afford to rent privately then you should not be on the housing list as you do not "need" social housing

I suppose this will vary as to area, but my name is on a housing asss waiting list for a complex for over 60's , I am not on the council list and am in private rent.
There is no bidding just either open or closed waiting list.
    Its Chevin housing in Yorkshire.

Oh well, why didn't you say so before. I'm quite sure that with that level of need, you should go straight to the top of the waiting list
