My mates asked me to convert some of his cds to mp3 so he can have several albums on one cd ( theyre all genuine cds). How easy is this to do, bearing in mind I'm not the best on a pc? I've got Nero installed.
Thanks
Thanks

if you have windows media player 10 - you can 'rip' cd's to MP3 very simply - just click on the 'rip' button, and once done use nero to burn them0

Hi,
Try CDex which is an excellent and free CD ripper http://cdexos.sourceforge.net/ .
I can also recommend dbPowerAmp, also free.
Hope that helps,

Right I've ripped a couple of cds using WMP10 and learned how to rename them, but they're saved as WMA files, not mp3. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks0 -
Your using WMP10. I personally never use it to rip cds, due to it converting to WMA format (truth be told i only really use it for streaming video on the internet). You could change the settings so it rips to MP3 but i would suggest using CDex or dbPowerAmp to do it. dbPowerAmp can also search the internet for the cd information allowing you to rip the cd with all proper song names first time. If you would like dbPowerAmp i can easily email you a copy of it if you pm me with your email address.Party_Animal wrote:Right I've ripped a couple of cds using WMP10 and learned how to rename them, but they're saved as WMA files, not mp3. as above - change the setting to mp3 (wm10 /tools / options / mp3)- once set up - its easy! tho there are 1000's of different programmes that do this also, for basic stuff this is simple to use0 -
It is right, i did say that to rip to MP3 you would need to change the settings, by default WMP automatically rips to WMA. sk80ab technically was wrong in his first post as he forgot to mention the changing of the settings to rip to MP3, but hopefully now Party_Animal will have sorted it all out and will be merrily creating his mates cds.Mr_Skint wrote:That aint right dude see the above instructionsSometimes i surprise myself by being right.0 -
cheers changed format, now ripping using WM100

personally I use advanced wma workshop - which is also very good - allows conversion of most types of audio to other eg wma > Wav - but reckon wm10 is easiest to start off with...0

cheers, there is one thing according to Microsoft each track is assigned a name and song title. This isn't happening here.0
