Argos - False Advertising?

I have seen a tv in Argos that is on special offer that I really want.I have been looking every day on their website to check stock as when I first looked, it said out of stock. That was 3 weeks ago and it is still out of stock.I have tried reserving it for store collection but all stores are out of stock.I emailed them to see what was happening and the reply said due to high demand it they have sold out & wont be getting any more.
Ive looked today and it is still advertised on their website.I rang customer services who checked and said no more of these tv's will be available.I asked her why they were still being advertised & she said the website doesnt get updated that often! Is that not false advertising? Im gutted. It was a great deal and I really wanted one!! Customer services couldnt care less.

if they had the tv on special offer and sold it at the reduced price to customers then it was not false advertising.

I ordered a dishwasher from Argos and it was 8 days before they rang to tell me they were out of stock. Even then it was still showing as available on the site. They said I could have £20 off another model to make up for it but as the one I had ordered was in the sale, similar priced ones were much lower spec so I opted for a refund instead. Then I had hassle getting the Nectar points I had used back:rolleyes:

Anyhow, I went online and found a much better deal from another site. The dishwasher I chose was £55 cheaper than Argos + free delivery and if it arrives on Thursday as expected I will be a happy bunny. All Argos did was cause me hassle and waste my time but it has taught me that there are better offers and service out there and they aren't the be all and end all.

False Advertising? Its an inviatation to buy when you see something. They dont have to update their website everyday most companies do it every six or eight weeks.
If you think about it, Next for example print a catalogue and send it one, then when one item sells out do they have to reprint the catalogue to reflect this and send them out all over again!

I dont think so! nothing you can do, the item is sold out
