Desperately need a second bathroom - where do I start?

For the sake of family harmony (& my sanity) we need to add a second bathroom. We can either add something in the built in garage, or split the existing bathroom into two. Who do I need to talk to so we can figure out which is the best option & get started(i.e. am I best talking to a builder, architect, bathroom specialist....)?

    A builder.

A plumber only forms part of the work needed. It needs oversight.

You wont need an architect. Thats overkill. You need a decent builder who can manage the whole project. Plumbing is just one trade you will need along with tiler, carpenter, plasterer, electrician. All trades need to be dovetailed into each other.

If you say where you are based, someone maybe able to recommend a builder.

  • I agree that your first consultation needs to be with a builder. Sure you can talk to a plumber, but then you lack the oversight of the entire job that you would get with a builder. Having a qualified builder take care of the project for you is not going to save you money, but it will save you your sanity.
  • Builder is your best bet. They'll know the ins and outs.
