PLEASE HELP Debt Recovery Plus & UK Parking Patrol Office

Hi,

I have spent many hours trying to find out what to do about my parking ticket but have found the advice very confusing. Please don't be annoyed at me for posting a reply.

I got a ticket from UK parking patrol office in May 2014 for parking in a disabled car space at the Aquatics centre in Manchester. There were at least 10 free spaces.

I ignored the ticket then got 2 letters from Debt recovery plus. The most recent was in August and has reduced the fine from £160 to £130. They are threatening to take me to court if I do not pay it.

I am having issues as the advice is to not ignore it HOWEVER when I read the thread for newbies and click on the link DEBT RECOVERY PLUS the advice pepipoo website is to IGNORE if I have done so already.

So please can someone advise me if I should just carry on ignoring the letters? There is no POPLA code on my original ticket which I still have.

Thank-you in advance. Sorry if the info is already out there but I have read a lot of info and it seems to contradict itself.

The advice is to ignore the debt collectors, Debt Recovery Plus, but NOT to ignore the PCN.

ignore everything apart from an LBC or MCOL from the PPC or landowner

neither DRP nor any other debt recovery company can do anything at all apart from harass you

after 6 years, its over, as MCOL no longer applies

Same as here, same as every thread about debt letters for the past decade(!), there's no point really in discussing these threatograms yet again:

Same advice as I gave that poster.

How does the newbies thread contradict itself - if it does I will amend it when I get time. It tells you that you can either appeal anyway or ignore the thing now. There wouldn't be a POPLA code on a PCN, you would have got one if you'd appealed in time. Unlikely to get a POPLA code now which is why you can ignore it and a 'late appeal' is merely likely to be an exercise for those who get twitchy ignoring completely. Your choice.

I am more concerned about this:
I got a ticket from UK parking patrol...for parking in a disabled car space at the Aquatics centre in Manchester. There were at least 10 free spaces.
Grrrrr - if you were not disabled and didn't have a disabled passenger, stay out of those spaces every time.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
