I borrowed a B&D Alligator Lopper Saw when I had some fruit trees to cut up. Briiliant bit bit of kit for stuff up to about 5". I found it very easy and safe to use.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
Do you mean mains electric or rechargeable....or both?0

I haven't had much luck with the cheapest 2-stroke powered garden tools. They seem to become unstartable after a while. Mid-range 2 stroke tools might be better.
I've used a small electric Black & Decker chainsaw for pruning occasional trees near power sockets, worked OK. Might not be suitable if you're any distance from a power socket.
Have you considered a bow saw with a brand new "green wood" blade? That should cut a 2" diameter branch with ease.0 -
I have 150 feet of beech!....need something to do this quick.0

Fiskars and other companies make geared loppers that claim to cut 2" branches. I've had good experiences with smaller geared loppers.
I'm not sure I'd use a chainsaw for a job like this. I think I'd use a combination of bow saw, loppers, long-handled shears and maybe a petrol hedge trimmer.0 -
I would want and pole pruner to do that, basically a chainsaw on a pole.
