Luton Airport worst in UK for 2nd year running

http://www.independent.co.uk/travel/news-and-advice/luton-airport-voted-worst-in-britain-for-second-time-running-9683933.html

"Many travellers still complained about security control, baggage reclaim and Luton’s pick-up and drop-off point, which has a maximum stay of 10 minutes and costs £2 on exit."

A salutary lesson for Luton Airport: treat customers as mere cash cows and eventually you will suffer. Is it any coincidence that the worst airport in the UK also has the most rapacious parking and fake fines policies?

But it's ironic that one of the best airports in the poll (Robin Hood) is infested with a dodgy parking company (VCS)

They all are. This country is a parking nightmare. Go to the USA and almost all parking is free.

I paid £5.10p to park for just over 2 hours at my hospital yesterday with a sick child.
Newquay Airport costs £1 for a pick up drop off.... and they make sure it's impossible to stop on the road outside.
NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!

Not that surprising, considering that Luton itself is one of the most dismal, depressing towns or cities in the UK.

It's right up there with Hull, Grimsby, S!!!!horpe, Stoke-on-Trent, Middlesbrough, Merthyr Tydfil, Londonderry, and Glenrothes on the list of worst places to live in.

I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.

US airports gouge for parking too even if shopping malls are free.

Of course passenger numbers are up that's no indication of the popularity of the airport its self just the fact that more people are flying.
All airports treat you as another cash bringer full stop, everything is built around withdrawing money from your pocket from the moment you enter the site.
The whole experience is just one of you are the next one to be mugged and abused!

Yes but their charges are not as extortionate as here!

We have not used Luton airport for years. Here is why.

Baggage allowance was 15 kg per person. We checked in with exactly 30kg, one bag 18kg, one bag 12kg.

You have guessed it, they made us equalise the bags, for no other reason than they could. Sheer bloody mindedness and contempt for passenger convenience. We have not used easyJet since.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.

I live close to Luton, and wouldn't disagree with you. Occasionally some of the silent minority try to develop something cultural, but seldom succeed due to apathy.

    S!!!!horpe?

I didn't realise that this site's software was so blunt. I've checked other works though and am surprised that words like Arsenal, and Sarsens (Stonehenge blocks) escape the guillotine. On another site there was a discussion on a problem chimney breast and we ended up talking about a !!!!!

Surely that was down to the actual airline, and not the airport. Each airline has different rules. For Instance, Ryanair only allow 15 kg but Jet2Com allow 22 kg.

That got quite interesting while trying to discuss a notable court case in that Lincolnshire town concerning Excel.
