Streaming boxes....worth it?

Hi there. I am frustrated because of the fact that i'm renting and can't watch sports on my TV. I only have Freeview aerial (the landlord states that i cannot infall a dish) but i'm tempted to switch to BT to be able to watch my favourite sports such as football (English Premiere League and other European leagues, UEFA Champions League/Europe Cup), WWE wrestling and the odd NBA basketball/Cricket/WRC Rally.
I heard about this so-called streaming boxes powered by Android (4.2.2) which has the ability to stream contents such as films, sports (Sky Sports & BT Sports) via pear-to-pear streams (i think).
My question is: are they any good? Seen some demo on Youtube and the only downside i can see is the "slow" loading up of a channel before the stream starts. (But i suppose if you have a 30-50MB fibre broadband speeds this could be sped up).
Any advice please?

Any advice please?
If your LL allows you to install BT Broadband, that includes BT Sport which you can watch on a PC/lapop/iPad without the need for any 'boxes'.0 -
I'm with Plusnet and not with BT. I think Plusnet has a similar BT Sport service but again a dish has to be installed which i am not allowed by the landlord.
And i would prefer to watch sports on my 32" TV rather than an iPad or tablet.0 -
You can watch Sky Sports via NowTV, but it's not cheap mind. It's usually £9.99 for a whole 24 hours watching, but they are offering weekly passes for £10.99 (day pass gone down to £6.99 for now). Don't know how long this will be going on for though.0

I am well aware of the Sky Sports on Now TV weekly & monthly offers but again for me this is not practical as it is very expensive.0

Streaming of Sky and BT Sports and similar sites will of course be from illegal sources .May not always give the best quality .
Normally can be accessed via a web browser on a PC .
Peer to Peer is the protocol not pear .
Look at
BT Internet + BT Sport + £18 Chromecast to stream BT Sport to TV with a HDMI Port .0 -
I have a Nexus 7 2nd generation (miracast enabled), a Netgear Push2TV and an HDMI cable, I'm a Sky and BT Broadband customer, so I have Skygo and BT Sport on the Nexus 7. Plug the HDMI into the Netgear and TV and power it up, on the Nexus Settings - Display - Cast Screen, and it connects to the Netgear. I can then open and watch BT Sport or Skygo. Picture and sound quality is excellent.0

I feel SkyGo is quite expensive. Same as NowTV.
And i have just asked Plusnet. They told me i am on a contract with them till April 2015 so my only choice is get these so-called Android media streaming boxes or get my own setup (own satellite dish, own satellite set-top box all for a one-off payment). Where can i start?0 -
Not an endorsement as such but have a look at droidsticks.co.uk - he sells these Android boxes and has some youtube videos which show you how they work - he has been getting good comments on twitter this week0

Sorry, shouldn't laugh but the idea of a pear to pear network cracks me up! :rotfl:0
