Paying full rent on a bursary..

Options
I start back at college on sept 1st and will have to pay full rent. Now, I expected this anyway, but I'm only paid a fortnights bursary in my first month, so meaning I will be in debt from the start as have no idea how they expect me to pay full rent and all other bills for the month of September? I know I can apply for the college discretionary fund, just hope I'm accepted or I am trouble if I don't. Hopefully, I can find a part-time job, but at the age of 51yrs with all the competition from younger job applicants....fingers crossed. Any other mature students out there facing the same problem? I'm in Scotland, things may be different in England.

What type of course is it? Have you applied for and been given a student loan? In England it would be worse, you'd have to find the money for fees as well as living expenses.

Is this a course for which you can get a student loan?
