When you Switch

Switched my mother from Nat West to Santander, no issues. Very smooth and she's gaining. BUT is it true that we need to inform all the various bodies (state pension, private pensions etc) before the 13 months is up or her payments in might go astray?

Under the CASS, NatWest will notify such people that they have redirected their payment credits, and pass on the Santander account details so that they can amend their files.

I wouldn't trust them though, so would always inform them myself as well.

But there can't be many people paying money into her personal account on a regular basis? So shouldn't be too difficult for her/you to do?

The banks will notify the payment sources of the new bank details but to be on the safe side, do it yourself as well.
The Current Account Switch Service will redirect payments to your new account for up to 13 months from your switch date. Each time an electronic payment is redirected an automatic message is sent back to the originator advising them of the new account details so they can update their records. Some organisations may contact you directly to confirm your details have changed.

  • Thanks everyone. Since husband, I and mother have just changed it's actually going to be the best part of 10 payers-in between us but heyho, got another 12 months to do it!
  • As per above should happen as part of the process but I would notify the organisations sending the money myself as well.
