renewal quote
My son has just been driving for a year. his insurance renewal came through - £2150!!
after searching around we got a lower quote and the insurance company he's with said they'd match it.....so it came down from £2150 to....wait for it....£700!!
I'm sorry but how can companies be allowed to scam people like that...thay dropped his renewal by £1450, with no questions, no problem!! I know he got a good deal but what about all the people who get conned this way...oooh....rant over

I'm surprised they've dropped that much but ultimately insurance is like any other contract, one side offers a price, the other side can accept, decline or negotiate.
Very few large ticket items are fixed prices with no opportunity to get the price down or extras thrown in.0 -
I too remember a high renewal when I was in my 20's - something like £755 or so. No internet back then so had to ring brokers & found a new one called Direct line & it went down to £270 something. Am 50 this year, so U know how long ago it was.0

I used to work for an insurance company - long before the internet, and i used to have to get all the vehicle details then go through piles of huge books to get the best quotes, then call the customer back, it was so time consuming....hurray for technology0 -
When it comes it car insurance it always seems that the renewal quote is more expensive than a fresh new customer quote.
When will car insurance companies reward loyally as a matter of course instead of offering better deals to new customers?
Always shop around for car insurance and not just comparison sites. I have been with the same company now for years I normally shop around ( ignoring their renewal quote ) call them with the best quote I can get and yeh presto they beat it! )Happiness, Health and Wealth in that order please!:A0 -
Why, unless you have actually used the full insurance service and they were excellent to deal with, would you remain with anyone who treated you like a turnip and expected you through inertia to swallow an excessive, try-on premium?0
