Vacuum cleaner wattage - how to find out?

I need a new vacuum cleaner and was spurred into thinking I might get one now before the regulations change and only less powerful low wattage ones can sold, on 1st September. Trouble is I was thinking of buying an AEG model and the technical specs I can find on line only refer to its voltage not its wattage. Should both be specified?

    w=v x a

    Go figure chap.

    But don't get hung up on that, how does it clean is the issue.

    Read the reviews before you buy

    Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

    bri, more Watts = better, don't you know this?

    I want a 3000W unit that won't even suck up a ping-pong ball! :D

    usignuolo Watts will only tell you what power the units motor is consuming, it won't tell you anything about how good of a vacuum cleaner it is. Look up AirWatts values to get a better comparison, and always read reviews. Good luck with your purchase. :)
  • Hi,

    have a look here, click your product, then more info, then product specifications, should help.

    I looked up air watts for the AEG model I want and it doesn't give those either.

    If you've already made up your mind about the AEG then buy it.

    I would shop around and look at a few models as 'Watts' are not everything, it's what the manufacturer has managed to do with those Watts!

    Exactly, I bought a 2200 watt vacuum a few years back and I'm convinced that at least 2000 of those watts were pure noise.

    Our new Hoover is advertised as being quiet. It is absolutely deafening.
    I can afford anything that I want.
    Just so long as I don't want much.
