Hello,
Experian have written to me saying someone has fraudulantly tried to get a credit report in my name. they say they will take steps and having recorded this with CIFAS.
I have never had any dealing with experian.
how worried should i be or are they trying to scam me into buying something from them. should i be taking further steps? (ive got an experian phone number but im sure its going to end up with them trying to sell me something).
why would a fraudster want my credit rating?
any help would be appreciated

Why not call asn ask, if they try and sell something tell them you will think about it, simple as that.0

I doubt if Experian are trying this approach to flog you something it is probably genuine. A fraudster could use your credit file to take out credit cards etc in your name, its worth speaking to them, what they suggest about CIFAS is a good move for you0
