The OP is claiming I.S as a carer and should be in receipt of Carers Allowance, if she calls and cancels her CA then her I.S will close after the eight week run on. Her son may then be able to claim the SDP but she would have to claim ESA as her I.S would stop.
She can claim SDP her self so should fill in the IS10 as her son gets middle rate care, so she is entitled to it.
My friend is in a similar sitiuation and has
been advised by a benefit advisor0 -

While in principle she can do this, DLA, ESA and IS are separate benefits.
Her IS will only stop if the childs DLA stops (after an 8 week run-on) It's unaffected if there is an issue with ESA.
Otherwise, if there is an issue with ESA, all income but the DLA stops (his and hers), she will need to make a fresh claim for IS, and then back once it's sorted.0 -
The Severe Disability Premium talk has confused me a little/lot, as well as others it would seem! Am I entitled to it as things stand, or would I need to end my CA for both myself and my son to claim it? And which benefit would my son get it for?... another IS10 was mentioned, but isn't that an Income Support form? He does already get a £15 enhanced disability premium of some sort with his ESA, which he got when changing to IR ESA.
But, yes: I do get CA, as well as PIP, though my IS claim started when my son only had DLA; before I got CA.
Received letter dated the 25th today. They haven't received the IS10 form back, apparently...
I also received what I assume to be a reply to my IS review form, dated the 22nd (received back on the 20th; kinda fast). They say my rates aren't changing but this part worries me: "...however, there may be future changes to your entitlement. This may be because of future changes you told us about, the uprating of benefit or changes in deduction from your benefit."
There's never been anything like this on IS breakdown letters before. Am I just being paranoid or are they suggesting my Housing Benefit will be altered / I'll be receiving more letters? It made my heart skip a beat to see two brown envelopes today.0
