Can I get more than 1.3% ?

I need instant access and have savings of £70,000. I am getting 1.3% with a Virgin current account.
So long as I stay under the compensation threshold I want to have just one account.
Can I do any better for this amount and instant access?

Not with one account.
If you're prepared to run more than one and put in some effort then you can get up to 5%. Lots of threads here how to do it.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
t's not much more, but you can get 1.35% with Tesco or sainsburys. Depending on your locality you can get better rates as some building societies will only allow you to open accounts in certain post codes.0

Plus you can use the various comparison websites, like money.co.uk or moneysupermarket.com0 -
I have an easy access internet account with Virgin paying 1,41%0

you can but would need to be over several accounts, some may need direct debits and have minimum funding (easy to set up as standing orders between accounts).
some allow you to hold more than one (either in your own name or as part of a joint account for example tsb allows two in sole name and two in joint name so if you have someone you can have a joint account with you could have 6 between you and therefore have 12k there).
also some have linked account with preferential rates for instance if you have the lloyds club account you can also get a 4% regular saver with them etc.
options you may want to look into in detail include:- Lloyds Club account (up to 4% on 5k)
- TSB Plus (5% up to 2k)
- Nationwide flex direct 5% up to £2,500
- Yorkshire bank current account direct (now 2% up to £3k)
- Santander 123 account (3% up to 20k, £2 charge but can earn cash back some bills paid by direct debit.
- Tesco Bank account 3% up to 3K

BOS Vantage is missing from anna42hmr's list. It's still available, 3 accounts max per person. As BoS don't have any alternatives like TSB and Lloyds have, this account might last for a while yet. Though it's anyone's guess for how long.0
