I would like to say a big thanks to kboss2010 for the Quiche recipe , My daughter made one this morning and it was so good, and at the same time made jam tarts. I think it will become a new family favorite.
And lot cheaper that shop bought plus alot nicer.:) 0 -

Do start your own Thread on this elsewhere or on book of face. As you are not a Mod, take it to them instead of reinforcing baseless insinuations here. Stop smear-spreading.
This is the Old-Style Money-saving Thread.

Thankyou duchy, cross-posted, but same hymnsheet:-)
Why would I want to start a new thread I am merely commenting on an existing topic on an existing thread, incase you have missed this I am not the person who wondered if the OP was after a handout , I am just someone coming on to say actually yes, it does happen, just because this is OS don't immediately assume that everyone is whiter than white!0 -
patchwork_cat wrote: »What have I said that is horrible, I said quite clearly that I couldn't say whether that was what the OP wanted or not, but it happens and a lot. I have personally been bitten 3 times and have witnessed it more often. It happens and it is not horrible to tell others that it does and only offer advice and not anything material. Now get off your high horse- make your flesh crawl - really overreaction much!

I'd be really grateful for any advice offered. I'm having a bit of a moment and I can't see how I can make my money stretch.
I have £41 to buy food for 8 breakfasts (for one), lunch (for 2) and dinners (for 3).
My daughter has a fruit and sugar allergy so i need to be careful (she's disabled generally from health condition).
If anyone can just point me in the direction of some cheap meals i would be grateful. My head hurts
Thanks so much.
porridge oats are cheap and provide slow release energy. As well as breakfast you can use then as an alternative or in addition to red lentils to bulk out stews and pasta sauces.
Sometimes fruit and veg which is reduced looks as though it will barely last another 10 minutes, but freezing will keep it at that stage which is perfect for smoothies and sauces.
Chopped frozen kale and spinach are perfect additions to smoothies, and you can use half an over ripe avocado to thicken instead of banana. Cucumber and courgette work well also.
I'm a big fan of shopping around 7ish when big supermarkets do one of their price reductions. Morrisons are great for this and so are Waitrose (no, I can't afford to shop there full price either! But get a card so you can reward yourself with a free coffee at the end of your shopping trip)
Hope this helps. Do come back and let us know how you are getting along0 -

Pink, the problem on the thread is that the OP was accused, without any foundation at all, of scamming for money. If you read the OP you will see all she was asking for was advice.... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Having been a long-time lurker on these boards, reading every frugal thing I could for advice when my income plumetted; but being a bit shy of posting, it could very well be that the OP is genuine. And, even if she isn't, the advice is never wasted. This back to basics type of thread is always useful for a newbie even when old-stylers are used to it, and other shyer newbies will be reading.
I didnt think I could get my shopping down to £40 weekly (embarassing to say now) in the beginning but would now like to say thank you for posts like these and the generous mse community for all their information0
