PPI help

Hello all,
I was wondering if somebody could point me in the right direction regarding my claim.
About 18 months ago I had a claim for PPI rejected by RBS for a Mint credit card. There reason was that I had filled out the form and because there was a box that I had to tick for PPI then I must have read the T&Cs and was aware of it.Also it couldn't have been missold as no agent was involved due to me filling in the form.
To be honest I forgot about the ombudsman and sending it over to them.Recently I had a conversation with somebody that I used to work with and they informed me that the company I used to work for a company sick scheme that would pay out for upto 6 months if I was ill.
I contacted the ombudsman regaring this new information and the person I spoke to advised that it could be seen as new information and it might be worthwhile submitting the claim again or at least speaking to RBS about it.
I spoke to RBS and then submitted a letter to them and got exactly the same knock back as earlier. They did say that I could go to the ombudsman but because it was outside the time bar they would only look at it at their discretion
Is this the end of the matter or can I actually go to the ombudsman about it.
I look forward to hearing from you

The ombudsman rarely override the timebar if the bank wish to enforce it. You would have to explain why it took you 18 months to refer the case. Typically, they only override in cases of incapacity, close family member death or similar to that level.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
