hi,
just quick question about tax credit overpayment. currently disputing an alleged overpayment and have received the demand for repayment. 99% they are at fault for not recording a change i informed them of.
i understand i need to make some repayment whilst the dispute is assessed, however, if i pay back some money and they then decide they were in the wrong do they pay it back? and how do they do this im no longer eligible for tax credits?
lastly, how long does it take for them to reply to a dispute form, or how long do i leave it before chasing them?
many thanks, have tried looking for answers and cant find any!!!

As BB says, despite what MSE website says (which is misleading), even if HMRC make a mistake and don't record the change, you can only win the dispute if you checked your next award notice and told them of the mistake.
But if you win, you will get back any money you have repaid.
