granite work top

Hi
We were wondering about changing our kitchen worktop to granite. Plan to sell the house in 3 years time.
It would cost us about £3000.
But would it actually increase the market value of the property or improve saleability of the property.
Any ideas?
Any drawbacks?
Anything to watch out for?
Any advice?

A granite worktop is unlikely to increase the value of your house but it might give the kitchen the wow factor and make it more saleable.

If I was your viewer and you had a black granite worktop though, it would put me off straight away. I really don't like black kitchen worktops and I'd spend my time thinking that I don't want it, but what a waste to get rid.

So do what makes you happy - you've got to live with it for the next 3 years.

Make sure your bathroom(s) are in good condition too if you're thinking of selling.
