Excel parking fines wigan

I got a parking fine from excel parking for parking on bryan house car park wigan. , one next to the Chinese buffet. I bought a ticket but I didn't enter my full reg. I read all the info on here and appealed. I wrote to the company explaining I had bought a ticket but they weren't interested and sent me another letter explaining I hadn't bought a valid ticket and I must pay the fine. I appealed to popla stating that the fine was excessive and they hadn't lost any money because I had purchased a ticket so the fine of £100 was excessive and unreasonable. Got a letter back today saying I had won and I didn't need to pay any fine, the best bit is that it cost excell parking approx £20 for every appeal. My advice if u get a fine- if you forget to buy a ticket, send £5 to excell by cheque recorded delivery to cover the ticket and the letter they send you, then appeal to excel and popla stating the dfine is unreasonable and excell aren't out of pocket because you have sent them a cheque, if you put the wrong reg in appeal because you have bought a ticket and excell have to send details of all tickets purchased to popla, again appeal stating the fine is excessive and unreasonable and not a true reflection of excels loses, if you get back and your ticket has expired, send excell a cheque for £5 to cover the parking and letter and then appeal stating same issues as above. Read info on this web site, spend an hour writing your claim job done. Hope this helps

I disagree. Don't send a cheque for any amount. Appeal using the standard template, get the rejection with the POPLA code then appeal using the winning points in the How to Win At POPLA section of the Newbies thread.
Never send anything recorded delivery either.

... and don't call them fines, ever. They are not. I'm glad you won though. Well done.

  • Hi,
I got a 'Parking Charge Notice' from Excel Parking for not purchasing a ticket near Bryan House. I was going to the Chinese restaurant nearby. I've parked there before without any problems, is this a new company that have taken charge of the parking? Also, when I got there it was very dark and I couldn't see any signs or ticket machines. Can I fight this letter or will I end up having to go to court?

    Many thanks.
