to get the my uni course would cost
£14 by taxi/bus (taxi to bus stop, bus to course)
£17 by taxi/train (taxi to train station, train to course)
£60 by taxi
it would cost £7 by car.
will dsa give me an allowance for a car journey (in my own car)?
i have a physical and mental disabilty and taking the car would be better as public transport could cause me problems.

No, as it is the cheapest option. DSA is for the additional costs of disability.0

To have travel support via DSA your needs assessor will have to recommend this and it will need to be directly related to your disability.
If your needs assessor agrees that your ability to travel to university is impacted directly by your disability and will incur additional costs, in comparison to other students, it is possible to get DSA travel support. The form of this will depend on what your needs assessor recommends.
When I was assessed, I was informed that the usual request is travel support via taxi with DSA paying for the difference between what it would cost any student to travel to university and the additional cost of using a taxi. However, due to my disability needs, this was not an option and instead my needs assessor proposed to DSA that my travel support was via a carer driving me to university and DSA agreed to contribute towards the cost of having someone drive me to university.0
