Help with a SAR

Hello. This is my first post and hope someone can advise me. I wish to claim for PPI payments to my NatWest credit card whilst I was working, now retired. I do not have any original paperwork and have been told by RBS to request a Subject Access Report. I have looked at various template letters but they all include requests for a lot of other information which is not relevant to my enquiry. Is it ok just to ask for information about PPI credit card payments, a copy of the original policy and/or bank statements etc., or do I need to follow the template in full? Excuse my ignorance but I am a rather bewildered senior citizen trying to understand all this as even a small amount successfully claimed would help supplement my pension.

Kind regards

They should really send all docs that they hold info re your name. You can take your request into any branch or post it. RBS waived the fee with my Natwest SAR; but, it's best to send it in order to comply with the legislation.

Don't be too concerned if they send a standard letter stating that they're not obliged to search that far back (you haven't indicated how long ago it may be); as, you can appeal to the Financial Ombudsman Service who are very helpful at getting info from banks etc on the consumer's behalf.
Please be polite to OPs and remember this is a site for Claimants and Appellants to seek redress against their bank, ex-boss or retailer. If they wanted morality or the view of the IoD or Bank they'd ask them.
  • Thanks for your advice, much appreciated. I will send the full request and wait to see what turns up.
