Lounge at Stansted

Not sure if you are comparing apples with oranges STN is basically a charter airport ith a pay to use lounge. BA lounges are frequent flyer qualified and you can't pay your way in you need airline status.
Two entirely different markets -one a leisure market , one mainly business with a bit of leisure travel.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

You'd have thought so but in my experience they "types of people" in both are very similar. BA First class lounge is not full of top hats and bow ties but t-shirts and jeans/shorts. May be more expensive t-shirts but they act as chavy as anyone I've seen in No1 Traveller lounges0 -

You can buy your way in without frequent flyer status - you just need a business or first class ticket.0 -

True, but you can't get in if you are not flying BA or an airline that is part of the OneWorld group, even with frequent flyer status.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Yep, near Gate 49 in the Ryanair pier. Reasonable enough & a view of the runway IIRC.
Only problem is, if you're not flying with FR you need to allow considerable time to get back to the main terminal then on to whatever other gate you're going from.
Is it a long walk then? If it is, it's probably not worth paying to book ahead and then only spending an hour in there. But if I manage 2-4-1 entry on the day then£20 easily spent in an hour.
Thanks for replies, even Pete!If you have nothing constructive to say just move along.0 -
Probably the only useful reply in this thread, is OP who has advised that this lounge is a long distance from most gates. It is sold as being for Ryanair passengers because it is in the part of terminal where the Ryanair flights leave from. If you are travelling with other airlines I am pretty sure you will have to return to the shopping area and then get the train. You have to allow 20 mins for this. But you do get access to the fast track security, which can really help, because the security queues at Stansted are a nightmare !0

Ryanair flights do not always leave from the same part of the airport.Turning left avoids some of the idiots (only some)0 -

I think you have an unrealistic idea of who travels first and business with BA LOL
People don't dress up to fly anymore -business travellers even more so than holidaymakers tend to dress for comfort when flying - Hardly surprising as some of them are clocking up a lot of time in the air often weekly-and there's rarely enough overhead space to put the tophat as most frequent travellers all have the biggest rollaway they can get away with for hand baggage !
I've used airline lounges frequently both here and in the US and I've found chavs as you call them rare. Interesting how our experiences are so different (or many anyone who doesn't wear a bow tie is a chav to you.......Matt Smith will be so relieved !!!)I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
