partner on SSP & I am Full time student what help can we get??

Hi can anyone help, my partner has been signed off work due to seizures he is currently waiting to see a neurologist and this may take some time, he has been off 6 week already, his work will pay 80% salary until week 10 after which it will be ONLY Statutory Sick Pay. I am a full time student about to start my second year at uni. What help could we get if he has still not been able to return to work before week 10 which is unlikely he is a bus driver so its unlikely he will until we/they know what is going on. I am thinking I may need to delay my going back to uni for a year, any advice would be great thank you.
