RBS rejected PPI complaint - Worth going to Ombudsman?

Posts: 2 Newbie
Bit frustrated with the decision but not sure if my complaint will be upheld if I refer it to the ombudsman so just looking for some advice. Background:
Took out an RBS CC in 2006 and this is where it gets a bit complicated. I started the application online but it didn't work/go through at which point I received a phone call the next day from RBS asking whether there was a problem and did I still want to complete the CC application. I did and this was done on the phone at the time with the RBS rep, I can clearly recall him reading the credit agreement on the phone and asking if I accepted. At NO point was PPI mentioned or discussed.
About 2.5 months ago I started my PPI claim direct with RBS and have just received the rejection of my claim. They have rejected it on the grounds that they have a signed credit card agreement form which details the PPI premium payable.
The credit agreement form has 2 signatures, one for the main credit agreement (regulated by the consumer credit act 1974) which is signed by me. Below that there is another box which has:
I wish to purchase: Payment protection
I wish to purchase: Sentinel card protection
The Payment protection box is pre-ticked, it's clearly apparent it's not a pen tick even on the scanned copy of the credit agreement RBS have sent. I have however signed this, I was 22 and it was my first CC so I probably didn't pay much attention. Below this signature it does say Optional Insurance - you will NOT be covered unless you sign above.
The specific claim responses details the rejections on the following grounds:
1) I would have been eligible for the policy based on my full time employment and age.
2) Sale of PPI policy took place on a non-advised basis
3) As I answered that I couldn't remember every specific part of the conversation in 2006 when I took out the credit card that they "can't find anything to suggest I was not provided with the full details of the policy"
4) The option for PPI had to be selected (it was pre-ticked on the credit agreement!) and separately signed for (which I did
)
5) Credit card statements showed the payment protection charges monthly
Now given that I have signed the optional bit for payment protection will the ombudsman pay any attention or does the fact the credit agreement came pre-ticked for PPI (Despite requiring my signature) come into play?
Appreciate any help/guidance/opinions!

A ticked box is no indication of a pre-tick. Indeed, it cant be. This is more common on a printed form from a typed in application.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I didn't finish an online application though so couldn't have selected it in the first place. My application online failed, didn't complete (came up with an error page). I was then phoned back from RBS the following day and finished the application on the phone, they then sent out the credit agreement form.0

The form would have been based on what was input online and finished in the phone. The printed form reflects what is input.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
