Things are going along nicely although I feel like I always have 101 things to do and as soon as I cross one off the list another appears!
I have avoided writing lists lately for this very reason!Nov 2025 - part 1 - £13,878 part 2 - £20,953 Total - £34,832 24 months to go!0 -
Well today I cracked! Have done really well not buying any food when at work in September but today I walked to Co-Op and bought some chocolate and a can of drink. I'm feeling very ashamed of myself!!
OH and I have agreed no fast food for September as well as we are both in the habit of buying food out of convenience when we are travelling and so far so good on this front at least!
Another load of spending to be done tomorrow on house stuff - we need bedding and curtains for the bedroom, and a curtain track. Hoping to get the bedding and curtains from M&S as we have about £70 of vouchers.
I'm also away with friends this weekend which I know won't be cheap, have budgeted £100 spending for the weekend but could quite possible be more than that depending on the activities we end up doing!
I feel like I need a more structured way to approach this diary as I feel like I just end up waffling!!0 -
Oh my goodness I have not updated this for a long time!!!
We have been very busy with the house - the lounge and bedroom are finished (we still want to buy some new furniture but waiting til the January sales kick in!). The garden has been cleared of 3 hedges and 5 trees - two big bonfires ready to burn when it's dry enough.
Being self employed is ticking along quite nicely - earning about the same as I used to but in less hours. Have also started my MSc - over £2k for the years fees - ouch!
I have definitely slipped in terms of bringing lunches to work - bought twice this week already. Not eating fast food lasted for 2 and a half months - have had a few fast food meals in the last month but not as many as I used to be so that's going OK - might need another push and completely stop eating it though as I find that the more you eat it the more you want it!
Christmas has been budgeted for - I put £50 a month away and everything comes out of that so no problems there.
Now the mortgage: Since I last updated we have OP'd £653.83. Will work out some mortgage stats later.
Other MSE activities - sold my old laptop for £80 and out old coffee table for £15. More stuff to sell but haven't got round to it yet!
I definitely need to get back on this thread as it keeps me so much more organised!! I am going to take a cut in pay as of January as I am dropping more hours to do another masters module - might be able to make up some of the time but not all of it.
I think that's enough waffling - I will be back later with mortgage / current financial stats!!0 -

So much to do before Christmas Eve and so little time! Looking forward to 12pm on Wednesday when I finish work. No MSE activities happening as I'm too busy running around like a mad thing getting ready for Christmas.
To do between now and Christmas Eve:- Clear and clean spare bedroom
- Finalise invoice for work and send
- Christmas grocery shopping
- Another load of washing
- Tidy and clean kitchen after decorating over weekend
- Wrap rest of presents
- Pick up treats for family dogs
- Finish mortgage stats
- Accounts - business and personal
- Get money out for Christmas Cards
- Write Christmas Cards

Well Christmas and New Year flew by! No overspending so no problems there. Even had a little left over from my Christmas pot to buy a few things that I need in January.
Still haven't finished my mortgage stats! It's terrible but I always have 10 other more important things to do!! Doing quite well this week, no extra food bought other than a meal out which was planned. I have packed my lunch every day and not bought any extra snacks!
We are also trying to utilise our gym membership more as we are quite sporadic in going - so if we don't use it twice a week from now on it's going to be cancelled and we can work out at home!
Not much else to report, normal monthly OP of £181.80 made, plus £33.44 which was half of what was leftover at the end of December. As I said stats aren't put together yet so can't give any other figures but they will come eventually.0 -
The term Big house, usually refers to prison, just saying!:DThat gum you like is coming back in style.0

Finally done the mortgage stats!!
So mortgage started in August 2014 at £188790
Without OPs the capital would currently be £187267.57 which would be 0.81% paid and would have a daily interest rate of £17.06.
Because of our OPs our capital is £186610.18 (a difference of £657.39) which is 1.16% paid (one little square of my percentage chart coloured in) and a daily interest of £17 meaning we save 6p every day now
.
Not too bad a start I don't think - 5 months in.0
