UK only, bidder from overseas

I have emailed the bidder and said that I notice their account is registered in Taiwan and they have bid on a shipping to UK only item. I have asked them to let me know if it will be a UK postal address (which is fine) otherwise I will cancel their bid.
Thanks to everybody!

My Google-Fu is failing me and I cannot find the people soolin has referenced, even looking across the entire Internet! However, I did come across a handy link that will help you to block people of certain characteristics. Let's call it The Prejudice Settings Page.
Q: What kind of discussions aren't allowed?
A: It goes without saying that this site's about MoneySaving.
Q: Why are some Board Guides sometimes unpleasant?
A: We very much hope this isn't the case. But if it is, please make sure you report this, as you would any other forum user's posts, to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.0 -
PenguinJim wrote: »It's certainly fine to send them a message reminding them that you only offer delivery to the UK, but retracting their bid and blocking them when they haven't done anything wrong? That's terrible advice!
Perhaps I should have been clearer.
If they are asking for delivery outside the UK extract their bid.
I didn't realise I had to spell it out.0 -

I'm not sure of your gripe. But having people excluded from bidding is necessary and it is down to each account holder to do what suits them. If you think that's prejudice, tough luck.
Clearly you aren't a seller. There are some sticky threads to help newbies or you can start your own thread if you quite grasp something. Don't hijack someone else's.0 -

So glad you have so much time, however, if only people started threads with the exact title to help a search.
By all means assure the OP that eBay will definitely remove any feedback if buyer turns out to be in a country they don't ship to. I will however, still express caution that this does not fall into the feedback removal policy and in my experience eBay will tell them that the system allows for these buyers to be blocked and if the system wasn't used then buyer is allowed to leave feedback that expresses their opinion or seller refusing to sell.
As for your link, thank you- that is the exact one that we sellers use and which eBay allow us to use to decide who to allow bids from. It was ~Beanie~ who said that they didn't know about the page, here:As for your link, thank you- that is the exact one that we sellers use and which eBay allow us to use to decide who to allow bids from. Have you never seen it before?
Clearly ~Beanie~ is a seller on eBay, and I don't think there's a need to be so harsh towards them, soolin! They are here for help, not for your sarcastic remarks about whether or not they've ever seen a seller settings page.I'm not sure, the postage/delivery options are all set to UK only. Are you saying that I could have blocked overseas people from even bidding?
In the "Advanced Search" here at MSE you can specify whether to search entire threads or to search titles only. "Have you never seen it before?"So glad you have so much time, however, if only people started threads with the exact title to help a search.
I really don't understand what you're trying to say. Of course it's prejudice. I don't have a gripe with that. As I've said, I do it. So does soolin. Apparently so do you. And you just quoted me linking to the page to help everyone use those settings! Where's the "gripe" or "tough luck"?theonlywayisup wrote: »I'm not sure of your gripe. If your link to the buyer requirement page was merely to be helpful why 'amusingly' refer to it as 'the prejudice settings page ?' I don't see why you would do that if you are merely helping along a conversation.
If you are a seller and have no blocks on anything, then that is fine - I would not seek to change your mind. However, many of us other sellers here have experienced issues and choose to specify where and what we can post- that is fine as well and it is not prejudice it is just good business sense.
Regardless of your own beliefs I would still always caution inexperienced sellers against relying in eBay goodwill to remove feedback. Perhaps you have been lucky , perhaps you are not even a seller- it is immaterial, I believe a warning to protect yourself and not rely on eBay is fully justified. Yu are of course able to have an opposing view, that is what a discussion entails.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Errr...
I can see now why communication is not your favoured approach to eBay problems! :A We can ignore the fact that you're not even talking about the same issues which I described as "prejudices" (i.e. after you said "I happened to see a user that either looked wrong... [or] had an off putting user name I would just cancel bid and block"), because it transfers over your deflection/honest mistake just fine and the use of the word is still perfectly valid. "Prejudice Settings Page" is a perfectly good joke name for that page, because prejudices are not necessarily wrong or unconscionable. Maybe it's time you look the word up?PenguinJim wrote: »I block whole continents willy-nilly, removing scores of countries with which I've had no personal experience! I can't think of a better word for blocking continents with barely a thought, or blocking buyers because you don't like their username, than "prejudice".
~Beanie~, I apologise for soolin's sarcastic remarks. There are a great deal of friendly, helpful MSE posters here. Please don't let one attack put you off using the forums.Q: What kind of discussions aren't allowed?
