Insurance quotes/credit searches and associations

Hello

I am hoping someone knows the answer to this and has advice on how to correct it.

A relative has applied for car insurance. In order to try and get a cheaper quote they have put my name on the policy as a named driver. They did not obtain my permission to do this. They can't remember what job title they put in for me. I don't live at their address either, they believe the form did not ask for my address. Just my name, dob etc.

I did not want to be named on the policy and I didn't want my data going onto insurance databases, fraud registers etc. I don't want to be financially linked with anyone. I don't want insurance quote searches on my credit files.

Does anyone have any idea if I can correct this? If so how!

Thanks

Re your credit file I do know its not something lenders will see, I'm sure the question has been asked before, have a look for the FAQs on experians website.

There's a question about insurance in the FAQ's which answers your question
  • Thank you for replying.

I work in an area relating to credit searches and have been told by several mortgage providers in the last 12 months that insurance 'quotes' from comparison sites are leading to people being declined mortgages. This is from several high street lenders.

I have checked the faqs on experian and the t and c's on the comparison website. The website says it shouldn't affect your credit rating, to me the word shouldn't means there is a chance it will.

Experian etc doesn't note whether it will create a financial association. I have known someone check with them in the past via the phone and they were told that they are not sure if a financial link is created. This person also called the Fca who advised they too are unsure!

This is why I try to be so careful and am rather concerned.
