Buying a motorhome - avoid MACIC inspections

What does the fineprint in the report say? I'd stunned it doesn't mention the tyres though. Does the report prove they actually saw it?
Did you give it any cursory once over when you collected it or did you buy unseen?
Hi
I had looked over the vehicle before I commissioned the report and drove it again before parting with any money. I've limited mechanical knowledge and all I knew about T25s was based on what I'd read on various websites and forums. The MACIC report I received is a standard tick box affair with occasional comments and many caveats about the age of the vehicle. There were a lot of photos included, so someone gave it a look over. All it said about tyres is that the originals were winter tyres. There is much detail on the bodywork and little on the engine ("it's a little tappy").
One of the 'get out clauses' in the fine print that I think is particularly unreasonable is that there is no attempt to test whether or not the vehicle is watertight. Buying a campervan which takes in significant water is (and has been) a problem for me.
The rest of the small print is peppered with phrases about 'can't be responsible for latent defects' and 'this is no guarantee or warranty about the state of the vehicle'.
In the future I'd use mechanic who knows about VWs, rather than the 'gloss over' outfit that MACIC are.
