Debts removed from my credit file?

Hi All, please bear with me (newbie on site- but long time lurker),
I have finally taken the plunge to get myself out of debt if I can - so have asked the 3 cra's for my credit file, I last did this in 2009, and kept the copy, I have noticed that a lot of the original debts that were on there have vanished, even though on my 2009 file a lot were listed as defaulted, there are now only 4 creditors listed on there, 2 with no defaults and 2 with defaults from 2010 and 2009 , so my question is as I haven't been asked by DCA's for anything for the others and to my knowledge I haven't paid anything on these & the one's which have vanished from file since 2009,where have they gone? I know they are removed from credit files 6 years from the date of default, but how can I find out if they had in fact been sold on to DCA's or "written off" ?
If anyone can help and I know from reading the posts in the money saving expert site that someone can, please do.....

Defaulted accounts fall off 6 years after the default date.
If mess than that, they may have been sold on and the new creditor hasn't logged it in your report yet. I have one been missing for a year now.
Have you moved? Are they at an address not on your credit file?:beer:0 -
Haven't moved house in over 20years, or changed name, all the credit was taken out between 2000 - 2004. Most unfortunately I defaulted on in 2007-2008.
Is it usual then for a company to not log that they've bought a debt and leave it for so long to put on a credit file?
So is there any way of finding out who may have bought these debts (if they have been bought) or how can I find out if /when I last made a payment to them as I don't really want the stress to start up again.0 -
If the defaulted 2007/2008 then that's why they are gone?
No way to tell who owns it unless someone writes to you.
If you haven't paid or acknowledged a debt in writing for 6 years it's statute barred. Can't make you pay.:beer:0
