Please Help - Parking Near York District Hospital

My Son is applying for a job at York District Hospital. Because of where we live, public transport is not an option so he will have to drive. Would anyone close to the hospital be willing to rent their driveway Monday to Friday 7.45am to 5.30pm? He would only be able to pay around £10 per week as he is applying for an entry level job.
Also if anyone is aware of any free parking or could let me know of any streets where there are no parking restrictions, I would be very grateful.
Thank you.

Its very unlikely to be honest, York charges a premium for parking. Im not sure that there are by laws also regarding renting out driveways.

Have you enquired about how much the staff car park is. I know that they do have a separate one.
There is also the option of Park and Ride of course. These are based all around the ring road around York.
Around 3.50 return I believe but you can google it.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

I have already checked P&R and surprisingly they don’t go to the hospital. My Son has made preliminary enquiries about a staff parking and basically there is not enough for everyone and so he would be unlikely to get a space.

There are websites that advertise drives for rent, it is perfectly legal, but I cant find one near to the Hospital. Also because of his entry level job, he can’t afford a lot so I was hoping a MSE forum member would take pity on him and offer him a driveway really cheaply. I know I am asking for a lot but my fingers are crossed.

Don't know where he'll be coming from but the hospital's website says:

First - Park and Ride - Green Line 2 from Rawcliffe Bar stops on Bootham (just after Bootham Park Hospital gates) on its way back to Rawcliffe Bar from the city centre. Daily, runs from about 7.00am until about 8.00pm, generally about every 10 minutes during the working day. The stop is about a 10 minute walk from the hospital.

Free city centre parking is very difficult in York, I had a medical appointment on a Sunday and could not find one. Has he thought of parking on the outskirts and biking in, York is cycling friendly.
  • Park and ride looks like a good option. My workplace (hospital) is a 45 min drive. 1hr 20 on the bus or 1hr 45 on the train. Luckily staff parking is less than £2 a day and if I get there before 8am I can usually get a space. 10 mins to my building by walk then. Park and ride sounds like a good option, I wish I had one :)
  • Maybe worth trying local boozers to see if they will do a cheap rate?

Great Idea, I will give that a go. Still looking for a driveway though if anyone's got one.
    Thank you
