Late payments

Hi everyone,

Does anyone have any idea as to how long lendors take to disregard late payments on your credit file? We are wanting to remortgage but have late credit card payments showing on the report. Which can't be good.

No one answer on that really, it depends very much on the lender.

With most lenders they will be far more interested in missed payments within the last couple of years. Generally the older the missed payments the less of an impact on the final lending decision.

Similarly an odd missed payment or 2 are usually less of a concern than a picture of repeated missed payments.

have late credit card payments showing on the report.
    Consecutive months with one card?
Consecutive months with more than one card? If so, how many?
    Ad-hoc missed payments?
All cards missed for one, two, or more months running?

In other words, what do your credit reports show in the payment history section? ie...

    00000010000100001... (ie general forgetfulness)

    00043210000000000...
    00043210000000000...
00043210000000000... (ie you lost your job!...and then got another one 4 months later)

And how many zero's are there since the last late payments?

Answering this will enable people to 'have a stab', which is the best you'll get here.
  • There is 3 consecutive payments on one card and random missed payments on other cards. Have set them all up by DD now but just wondered how long it takes to improve the situation
