Hi,
Just claimed pip and read that it takes months for a medical assessment. My question is will I get money before the assessment like esa or will I have to wait? Thank you.

when you claim ESA, you get the assessment rate which is the same amount as JSA.
this is paid straight away as it is an 'out of work' benefit.
PIP is not an out of work benefit and so you must have an assessment to determine if you meet the criteria and so will receive an award before they will start to pay any benefit

basically no pip at all until f2f has taken place then dwp eventually make decision. be warned it is long wait now on week 39 since I put in claim.

ESA is based on whether you can work or not and not care and /or mobility needs.
