What does "353" refer to in Acer Aspire 5741-353G32Mnsk?

I need a new battery, but I can't find my laptop model listed anywhere.

I've found replacement batteries compatible with my laptop battery model no, but no memtion of my specific laptop, as a model the battery will fit.

Anyone know what the problem could be?

I may be cynical but I think Acer make the numbers so complex so they can reserve some specific model for PC World - then they can advertise it as the cheapest possible deal for this specific model and offer to price match less 10% knowing full well that only they sell that specific one.

On the battery front I'd say if you can match the battery model number it should be a direct replacement.

The thing is, I emailed the top seller on ebay about my laptop version, which he doesn't list, and even though I'm sure his compatible battery will work, the guy is says it won't, though I haven't drilled down with him as to why. I'm concerned there's something wrong with my laptop - maybe quickly discontinued owing to a fault, not that I've detected anything in 4 years.

Perhaps he wants to protect himself - there has to be a reason why an identical battery, in specs and shape and size, supposedly isn't compatible.

I think we have a winner here :)

I believe it refers to the spec of the laptop, so it should be
Intel Pentium T3500, 3GB RAM, 320GB hard drive

(The Mnsk probably refers to more minor things like the colour of the casing, webcam/microphone, battery life, etc)
    Squirrel!
If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

All Aspire 5741 batteries will be compatible.

    48.8 W 4400 mAh 6-cell Li-ion standard battery pack.

Why does he suggest that his won't work?

    Cheers.

There are a lot of threes in my laptop specs:
    i3-350M, 3MB L3 cache
    3GB DDR3
    320GB

Though I also wouldn't put it past Acer to deliberately complicate things.

I'll try the ebay one I found, no matter what the seller says.

No idea, but I didn't want to risk anything.

I meant...did you ask him why?

Sorry, no I haven't asked him further.

    "Thank you for contacting us
This item does not fit your laptop.
We also checked in our store and do not have the right one for Acer Aspire 5741-353G32.
    You can try other stores
    Thanks
    Have a good day"

I doubt he'll elaborate much further.

Do you know if the fact all the sellers' batteries have higher capacities (5200mAh), but seem to be the same shape and size so they won't protrude from the base, should be of a concern?
