We are away for 6 months of the year mostly in the winter months and are wondering if anyone knows of a supplier for gas and electric that have low standing charges and higher usage charges as I think this could benefit us immensely.:j

I have just moved to First Utility for the same reason.
Check out their prices online........

Ebico. Although you need to cost it out properly as you really don't have to use much at all before it becomes uneconomical - their unit rate is eye wateringly high.
The same advice everyone else gets basically, put your annual consumption statistics (available on any bill) into a price comparison site, and have a look at the results.0 -
As said, First Utility and Ebico. First Utility is a variable tariff - their fix used to be the same but was quickly withdrawn. For your circumstances (not being resident) Ebico may be preferable as First Utility could bump up the standing charge and you may miss the notice. Their standard standing charge is about £70 rather than £10. Of course if you do use plenty of gas when it is used then that may be preferable than paying Ebico Ebico prices.0
