Oh wow Sar I really REALLY love that riff - thankyou you are (and will be ) A STAR. Thinking about Xmas pressie for Ash do you have Home Bargains near you ? There is a dedicated thread on here and lots of peeps raving about Leapster thingy they sell much cheaper. Might be too old for Ash but worth checking the thread maybe ? XX

Actually, may I ask you for some advice? For the past hundred years (ish) I have wanted to learn how to play guitar. I am being given an old guitar from a friend in the near future and I really want to give it my best shot next year...just wondering if you have any advice on free, or cheap, resources for teaching myself how to play?

Well I started learning guitar before I reaslised I was rubbish at it and took up bass. I started by getting internet tabs of songs I had on cd and started playing along to those for example I would want to play something like...ummm..... californication by the red hot chili peppers you'd get something like this from a google search...

the EADGE is your strings and the tuning that they should be in.. then the numbers on the lines relates to the fret you need to put your finger on...
so if you've got a 0 youplay an open string, a 2 you press down on the 2nd fret down from the top of the fretboard (head end not body) and then play that note. If you've got a serious of notes all lined up then it's a chord and you play the all at the same time...

does that make sense??? lol

Hey Notanothergreyhair my dh has been teaching himself to play guitar. I konw he uses a special CD on the pc and various books will ask him when he gets in from work.
