Will defaults on my credit file affect mortgage application with Partner

Hi All
I have 2 Defaults on my credit file one for £377 and the other for £69 Argos and Santander respectively. These are settled in full. Santander is 4 years old and the Argos one is 2years old. This is obviously having an adverse affect on my file. I have a 'bad credit' credit card that i use and pay off each month hoping this would improve my score. My experian score currently stands at 'poor' 695.
My partner and I are going for a mortgage soon and just wondering what affect these will have on our application? He is self employed and bringing in net profit of £35k. I currently bring in cica £37k. He has a perfect credit score.
We have a 30k deposit and the house we are looking to buy is 215K.
Any advice on how woulld be helpful and any idiciations of how likely we are to get accepted would ge great
Thanks

Yes defaults on your credit file are likely to affect your ability to get a mortgage, or which mortgage providers will be prepared to lend to you.
Given that the defaults are small and that you have a reasonable % deposit I wouldn't expect it to prevent you from getting a mortgage at all, but you may need to be particular who you apply to. I would go through an independant mortgage broker who would be best placed to advise which lenders are most likely to accept your application.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

BIB: There is no such thing as a credit score, FYI. It's a computer generated number that no lender will see when it comes to approving you for a mortgage. It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0
