I sent off two forms for two separate claims, in the freepost envelopes, but decided to pay for recorded delivery as I didn't want to risk the items getting lost in the post. I received one cheque ok and thought the other one may be taking longer (as it said it could take up to 8 weeks to process), so I held on and finally phoned them to find out that they haven't received the second form and now the cut off date has passed my only option is to claim from Royal Mail!!!!

If you've ever tried claiming from Royal Mail you will understand my consternation, I have to provide proof of postage which I have, as well as proof of value of the item I posted. But as 2nd class postage only covers up to £50 I won't get the full amount back from anyone - why should the CPP and the banks keep our money, haven't they taken enough of the hard working tax payers money as it is - I don't think there should be a cut off date at all.
This illustrates my point that you should not bother with recorded delivery. Proof of postage (free from the Post Office) is sufficient to persuade FOS of delivery (on the balance of probability).

However, you can still complain to FOS about the case providing your proof of postage. It is also possible, if you put the receipt details into the Royal Mail websited, that you will be able to provide proof of delivery.

It may be a fairly long wait but this is probably your best option now.
