Hi,

Me and the my other half are thinking of getting a cleaner as with our little one we are starting to struggle to keep the place clean.

Does anyone know how much it would roughly cost for a cleaner, say every two weeks to clean (dust & hover all rooms + clean bathrooms and kitchen) a 4 bed house; Lounge, Dinning room, Kitchen, 4 bedrooms, a down stairs toilet, a main bathroom and an ensuite shower room with toilet.

I am unsure how long they would require to do the above as well
as the cost. If someone could give an approximate time and cost it would
be very much appreciated.

As as comparrison I can generally get round, dusting and hovering within an hour, but that is my flying around ;)

Also, would I need to supply cleaning materials and vacuum cleaner, or should the cleaner bring their own materials etc..

FYI I live in Berkshire.

£10+ a hour in Oxfordshire.Friend of mine said some cleaners are wanting £15 a hour now but £10 is normal.Look in your local paper and see what people are advertising for cleaners are offering.
4 bedroom house i think because of the bathrooms about 3 hours.
You supply cleaning stuff and cleaner will use your vacuum cleaner.Go on your local selling page on Faceook and say you want a cleaner as people are doing it on my local Fb page. Dont get a cleaner that is rushing from your job to another job.And get her to start in the Kitchen so she doesnt use the bathroom cloths to clean the kitchen. And get references

£15 way to much - advertise for a cleaner at minimum wage and you will get a eastern European who will do a very good job.
Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring

Ours charges £15 an hour, if she finds any clothes washing she does that as well. We are in a two bedroom flat with two bathrooms and an open plan living area, to bottom each area takes about two hours. She does it properly though, we did have one who wasn't bothering to dust on top of wardrobes or door frames.

The only thing we would never expect is moving heavy furniture such as sofas to vacuum underneath.

She comes in once a fortnight at the moment, I do most of the cleaning gin our home as my wife is disabled so it's nice to get a break day every now and then.

Thank you all for your replies.

I will do a bit of investigating (now I know how long and roughly how much), in my local paper etc. and see if I can find someone.

Round my way the Eastern European are useless. They just do the cleaning as quick as they can while they are on their mobiles.

Depends what area you live on how much a cleaner charges but it is £15 my way for some cleaners but its usually £10 a hour or more if house is out in the sticks.

I haven't cleaned the top of my wardrobes or door frames for 15 years!!!

My DIL has just started a cleaning business and I believe that they charge £10ph.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
