Claiming PPI from Northern Rock

Have I missed the boat?
I took out a loan pre 2000 which was paid back long ago - I was told at the time that PPI was compulsory.
Not sure where to start although there are a lot of claim companies which seem to offer a claims service - is it worth going down this route?
Any advice would be much appreciated!:j

It's free to make a complaint about the sale of PPI so not sure why you would want to pay someone. There is no such thing as a "claim" in respect to this.
If you were only told it was compulsory then you will have no proof so a weak complaint to make.0 -
