Has anyone dealt with the Claims Guys

I heard about The Claims Guys from a Facebook advert. Has anybody had any experience with them? Are they honest? Within seconds of me expressing interest in them they phoned me and kept phoning me. Eventually I called them back and was subject to a long Q&A followed by a reading of their terms and conditions. I am wary. Can I please have your views/feedback about them.

It's free to make a complaint about the sale of PPI so not sure why you would want to pay someone. There is no such thing as a "claim" in respect to this.

    Are they honest?

Not with me they were not. I was told a number of lies in the cold call they made to me.

    Michael,

    2 scenarios:

You make a complaint about PPI
You do the work, finding account numbers, reasons for complaint etc
You send off for the price of a stamp
You receive 100% of any refund

    You use the claims company
You do the work, finding account numbers, reasons for complaint etc
They send off for the price of a stamp
They receive anything up to 50% of any refund

    See the difference?

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

  • Hello, thanks for your replies. After the telephone conversation I was sent a claims pack which contains a ppi questionnaire which they have asked me to sign. I have as yet signed nothing. If I do not signed can I be held liable. Do you think think I should write back saying that I do not wish to proceed or shall I just ignore them?

Send them nothing, they cannot proceed without a signed letter of authority from you.
