Advice needed please...

Hi there

Ive recently checked my P60 too see what annual wage they had me down for and i noticed that there was a discrepancy as they have had me down working for 2x jobs.:(

Here goes, the initial employer was with an (agency) who i worked for 6 months prior too be taking on permanent with the same company,
The agency dates are between October 2012 to May 2013.

I was then employed by the company from May 2013 until this present day. my question is that since May 2013 this agency has been putting me down for £2500 extra every year on top of my normal wage including both tax years below -
2013-2014 + 2014-2015.

I contacted TAX CREDITS to highlight that im not being paid this extra £2500 too which they stated contact the TAX office ask for an updated P60 they will remove the agency from your P60 which will then be updated and we will look into the payments for the years consisting of
2013-2014 & 2014-2015

Is it right too say that Ive been paying too much tax in my weekly wages since May 2013 and also TAX CREDITS may also owe me money from being under payed ???

Your advice is highly appreciated in advance :)

Kind Regards

  • Sounds like the agency failed to finish you with them & give you a P45 in May 2013.
However this is what confuses me you say the agency are adding on an extra £2.5k, do they administer your employers payrole as that would be the only way that they could be involved - IMO anyway. However if you had the 2 employers last year the P60 might still be right as it is meant to show both sets of earnings then a total for the year.

Re tax - It's impossible to say without knowing what your pay has been, your tax code and the tax deducted.

Re tax credits - again more info is needed. Would need the figures for 2012/13, 2013/14 and predicted 2014/15.f

I'm unsure what exactly has happened in your case, you have said since May 2013 the agency has put your income down as £2500 extra for last year and this year. If you stopped working with the agency in May 2013 then why would they have an income for 2014/15 for you?

This is the question why would they have me down for 2014-2015.... I can only assume as TAX credits has stated the estimated annual income as the last 2 years ...

    Kind regards

Can you clarify, who are "they"? Your employer, the agency, tax office, Tax credits?

Is it only tax credits? If so they estimate your 2014/15 income on the 2013/14 figure unless you change it. All you would need to do is call them with your new estimate for 2014/15.

    Hi there

'THEY' i refer too is Tax credits, i will inform them of a new estimate for 2014-2015 minus the £2500 which was originally questioned because of the agency and hopefully this will be resolved ASAP

    Regards:)

    Hi

The £2500 is pay from the agency who i initially stated with the company before being taken on permanently by the same company hence showing as 2x separate employers on my P60.

The agency hasn't removed themselves from the P60 and not updated the Tax office, so there for years 2013-2014 is correct but 2014-2015 has been used as estimated figures going off the last P60.
    .
Going forward i spoke to the Tax office today who stated AGENCIES are nightmare at present as they are inundated with similar calls daily where the agencies hasn't reported to Tax office to remove themselves from employees P60s In some cases thinking employees have 2 or even 3 jobs.
I have now updated with the Tax office about my present tax code and have given Tax credits a new estimate for the year 2014-2015 so hopefully sorted.:)

    regards

But they shouldn't be removed from your P60. Your P60 should show your income for your previous and current employer in that tax year.

For the previous year i agree the AGENCY was shown for 2013-2014 on my P60,
but not for this present year as their not employing me in 2014-2015. I'm being employed by the company directly so why would the agency be on P60 for this year ...as far as im concerned the Tax office may have thought i may have had 2 jobs which isn't the case...

You won't have had a P60 for this year yet as they aren't issued until the end of the year (so next April).

I think what you are referring to is that the agency hasn't completed a P45 showing you have left their employment. This would lead the tax office to believe you have 2 jobs but in terms of tax credits, this would just be reported by you.

I'm totally aware that a P60 for this current year isn't or wont be produced until April 2015:rotfl:

As for the remainder of this thread all sorted now awaiting a new Tax credit award which is in process and only employed by 1x company with Tax office...:D
    .
    regards
