Painting Shed

What type of paint would be best for painting a shed, Cuprinol Ducksback or an ordinary oil based paint?

It has previously been painted with a water based fence and shed paint but that never lasts more than a year.

I would use a shed/fence treatment, not oil based paint. No going back after paint.

We painted our shed with two coats of Cuprinol Garden Shades (plum purple) a few months ago - been heavily rained on since (living in Scotland :)) and still looks the same as the day it was painted. Still has to go through the frost and snow of winter but it should hold up pretty well - not expecting to have to paint it again next year.

We have a 12x8 shed and that has creosote on it (you can still get it) which I did this week. And it looks very good. Last year I did it with Creoseal and it really is no substitute.

We have stables that have been up 3 years now having been painted with ducksback and in the spring I used what I had left to do the south and west elevation as it had taken a bit of a pounding with the sun and rain (the rest was still OK).

I think ducksback is pretty good but if I had been brave enough (ie guaranteed supply of creosote) I would have used it instead. Probably too late for creosote now.
