BA Service Centre booking fee

I'm having to book a flight using BA's service centre.

I have asked the same question 3 times & got three different answers.

The question asked is I cannot book this flight online will I be charged anything

The answers I have received are

No charge, as not my fault can't do it online
£15
£15 for each passenger.

Anyone got any clues or is it a case of pot luck when I come to make the booking.

Thanks

Make a note of when and where you were told there was no charge. When you make the booking, give these details and explain why there should not be any charge. 'Forget' that other people 'mistakenly' said that a charge would apply...

Depends on why you cannot book it online. If it's a glitch on the site and you should normally be able to book it online, then the phone fee is waived. If you cannot book because the system does not allow it (for instance open jaw booking in different cabins) then the phone fee won't be waived. Unless of course you get a sympathetic CSR on the line.

You can only make an Avios, Aer Lingus booking over the phone with BA.

Only two Airlines fly from Manchester to Dublin direct

In that case I believe the phone fee would apply. But again, they might choose to waive it as a goodwill gesture. Certainly does't hurt to ask.

When I have made a complex booking over the phone I haven't been able to get them to waive the fee and I'm a Silver card holder. I didn't mind too much as they were for business trips and I was expensing the cost anyway.

Wrong, you can make any booking you want, but if it's one you could do online then there will be a charge.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

I wanted to upgrade a flight, but got a message in Manage My Booking saying it couldn't be done online, and I'd have to call.

Called and got the upgrade price which included the telephone fee. I highlighted the fact that I couldn't upgrade online and they happily reduced the amount by £60 (which I assume is £15 per person each way).

When I phoned BA up they said you cannot make Aer Lingus booking online in the same way you cannot make a Multi Airport booking

So why can't you book an Aer Lingus flight online on the Aer Lingus website?
