We are hoping to get a cat in the next couple of weeks and I really want to fit a cat flap on our back door.My question is , is it possible for me to do ?
Its a UPVC door with a window in the top half and 2 moulded panels on the bottom half.
Has anybody fitted one to a door with panels ?
Thanks

Yes, it is possible and should be fairly straightforward.
Is the door one piece or is the bottom panel removable? If the latter, then consider buying a flat panel to replace the moulded panel.
I've only fitted cat flaps to flat panels but the house we bought 3 years ago had a cat flap fitted to a PVC door with two side by side moulded panels.
They positioned it on one of the moulded panels such that there was the least amount of height variation and used foam and filler to fill in the gaps.
Our cats used it happily although they have since died in old age and, as we don't plan to get anymore, I have removed the flap and I am considering ways to patch up the hole.
I'll take a photo and post it later.
Good luck with your cat.
PS: Make sure you do a good job of sealing all the gaps on the outside, otherwise you will inevitably get water ingress. Use a waterproof sealant such as silicone sealant as used in bathrooms. Perhaps expanding foam sealant would be suitable. Check that out as I don't know.
And remember that it makes a mess of the door should you ever want to remove the cat flap.0 -
Here are a couple of pictures. I have temporarily put tape on the outside to stop wind and rain getting in.
Unfortunately I don't have any pictures prior to removing the cat flap.0 -
Before you get the flap put in, get cat & let it settle into home for a month 1st. It needs to get to know you & home 1st.0
