Transferring Euros from Irish Bank to UK Bank

Does anyone know the best way to transfer Euros from an Irish Bank Account into sterling into a UK bank account without losing too much of the value of the money? I recently transferred 2,200 euros from my account in Ireland into my UK bank account and the value when transferred was £1,714 - basically the UK bank used an exchange rate of 1.28 resulting in the loss of 500 euros! I will need to do this again in the future so any guidance would be much appreciated. Thank you!
