Travel to Luton Airport

I will be travelling from Luton Airport next month and have been sent an email from Easyjet informing me that there is ongoing roadworks on the M1 near the airport and that there will be delays.

Has anyone travelled to Luton Airport recently? If so, was there a major delay or inconvenience? How much extra time should I allow for the roadworks?

I'm trying to plan travel time and to allow enough time for the roadworks. I'll check the traffic updates and roadworks info closer to the time of travel.

TIA

I flew out of luton 3wks ago, back into luton last week. although there are coned areas etc on the m1 approach, i had no delays at all. if u use google as your search, u can put in your postcode to luton airport and google will give u the current driving time.

i used this method a few times ~ at the most it showed an extra drive time of 10 minutes depending on the time of day etc. there appears to be less mph restrictions on the m1 now, compared with the last couple of years too.

I live in Luton the roadworks are on the slip road they occasionally close the road that leads to the airport but at night only , that road is really busy in the evening around 5-6pm and the road to parking by the terminal is really busy around 6am. Hope this helps
If i knew the answers to all the questions i wouldn't be on here :p

Do allow extra time, as that area always gets congested. Depending on where you live, I would consider using the train and check the site for information about the bus transfers , they are very efficient, but can also get caught in that awful 5-7am rush! Also, if you are using long-term parking, the route from the usual site takes you right through the roadworks, so check the transfer times.

    Thanks for the replies everyone.

I'll be using the airport long term parking, hopefully the congestion won't be too bad.
