Recieved a parking ticket from UKCPS

Hi everyone,

Just looking for a little advice.

I recently received a parking ticket from UKCPS however when I went to pay them the website felt unsafe. From that I did some searching and ended up at this forum so looking for some advice.

The parking ticket was received after I parked in a private car parked that is owned by a previous employer. The car park was empty at this time and has been empty for the past week, I had my badge to park there on the dashboard however it wasn't clearly on display. I was parked after 3pm in the afternoon but like previously stated the car park was empty and I know that the employers finish there at 3pm on a Friday (When working, as stated currently no one parks there) I actually believe the building may be shut down but I am not 100% on this.

Do I have the right to appeal and a strong case?

Thanks in advance

'Do I have the right to appeal ...........'

Of course you do Tweeb. It's a moral duty! Thank goodness you found your way here.
[I like the idea that a PPC payment site felt 'unsafe' - you bet they are. All of these scumpanies are exactly that.]

Read coupon-mad's NEWBIES STICKY THREAD. That's your 1st step. Go back up to
'Motoring > Parking Tickets, Fines & Parking ..'and you'll see it heading the Thread list.

Do that and you'll have an idea of how to proceed. Come back for advice when you've done that reading. Have you received a Notice to Keeper yet? Wait until that comes.

If you can post a pic of the signage, so much the better. An old hand can convert it from tinypics or a similar hosting service.

What 'badge' did you have on your dashboard?

  • Thanks for the quick reply

I have not received anything in the post yet so as far as I understand I have to wait for that before making any progress. I could get a picture of the sign also proof that the building car park is empty all day most days. Would being able to evidence if the centre has closed down support my case?

The badge I have is a old badge made by the centre itself from when I was an employee. When I left the vacancy I didn't return the badge however all badges are the same and not unique so they would not be able to know I am not a current employee.

What happened on the day, your badge, the empty car park, previous employment etcetera are all completely irrelevant. Wait for the NTK and read the sticky thread for NEWBIES. By the time the NTK arrives you will know how to beat this fake unenforceable speculative invoice.

Oh, was this in England/Wales or Scotland/NI as the above advice only applies to E & W?

Do not pay, do not ignpore, do not reveal who was driving unless it was a hire/lease car.

The 'what happened' is irrelevant, it will not help your case. In fact, if you weren't supposed to park there how do you think it will ever help your case.

No, you have to tackle this purely on legal and technical aspects relating to contract law, the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012 and the BPA Code of Practice. Forget everything now about 'what happened'.

Now this all may seem daunting, but the NEWBIES sticky at the top of this forum's first page has been prepared to take you through this step be step.

Pics of the signage would be helpful, but you will need to host them on the free-to-use Photobucket or Tinypic, then post up the link here minus the http part of it (newbies not allowed to post working links) and we'll do the conversion.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
