Hi
I'm not even sure what the actual cause of my problem is but basically I bought a HP windows 8 laptop about a year ago and I have iTunes on it. However, iTunes does not seem to recognise cds when I put them in t get music off them. I'm not sure if its a windows issue or an iTunes issue. I have updated iTunes to the latest version so I know all that is up to date.
it is driving me crackers as I cannot update the music on my iPhone or iPod and I am tired of the same songs! Plus I have a new iPod being delivered this week and I would like to be able to listen to music on it!!!!!
Any help from someone more techie competent than me would be great!!
Thank you in advance
Michala

Does other software recognise when you have a music CD in the drive? If no other software or Windows notices when you have a disc in then it is likely drive isn't working properly.
If you can see discs in other software or in Windows Explorer then the issue is with iTunes.0 -
It seems hit and miss with windows media player too, although I hardly use that. So I'm guessing it is more a laptop issue than and iTunes issue?
Its driving me crazy!!!Michala0 -
CD drives in Laptops are usually modular and can simply be pulled out (some may require you undo a single screw on the underside) so they are very easy to change.
Do you have access to a USB CD drive or know anyone who would have one that you can test to prove that it is a fault with the internal drive?0 -
I have tested the drive today with a selection of CDs and DVDs and they all play fine using media player and a HP DVD player that came with the laptop. So the problem seems to be an iTunes issue rather than a drive issue. My next step is to un install iTunes and re install and see if that works!
I feel I am excelling my techie abilities today ha ha ha!!!Michala0 -
In iTunes preferences, have you selected what you want to happen when a CD is inserted?
iTunes - Preferenes - General - (near bottom of the box), 'When you insert a CD' Click drop down and choose....Drinking Rum before 10am makes you
